When I first heard ghazals I knew only Pankaj Udaas. But during the time of Marathi Sahitya Sammhelan, on the pave lawn of Kala Academy in Panaji, the chairperson was (at that time) Ranjit Desai. He and his wife, Madhavi Desai, were staying at Hotel Samraat in Panaji. During that period, he noticed that I was hearing the ghazals sung by Pankaj Udaas on my walkman player. He told me to stop it and gave me a different ghazal cassette instead. I realized that my perspective of ghazals voluminously changed and that too entirely. Here is the first that I heard, cherished, enjoyed and shared with all who will love it too, sung and composed by nun other the Ghulaam Ali !!!

हंगामा है क्यूँ बरपा थोड़ी सी जो पी ली है
डाका तो नहीं डाला चोरी तो नही की है

ना-तजुर्बाकारी से वाइज़ की ये बातें है
इस रंग को क्या जाने पुउछो तो कभी पी है

उस मई से नहिी.न मतलब दिल जिस से हो बेगाना
मक़सूद है उस मई से दिल ही में जो खिचकी है

वह दिल में की सदमे दो या जी में के सब सह लो
उन का भी अजब दिल है मेरा भी अजब जी है

हर ज़र्रा चमकता हैं अंवार-ए-इलाही से
हर साँस ये कहती हैं हम हैं तो खुदा भी हैं

सूरज में लगे धब्बा फितरत के करिश्मे हैं
बुत हम को कहें काफ़िर अल्लाह की मर्ज़ी हैं
