___________
'Chhayanat' is a beautiful raag sung during the late evenings. It is also mentioned in 'Sangeet Parijaat' one of the early Sanskrit texts, though the scale at that time was different. Starting from middle 'C', it had a minor 3rd and a minor 7th notes, whereas today the north Indian music has the same tempered scale as in European music.
The beautiful and slightly unusual composition is accredited to Ustaad Enayat Hussain Khan, the founder of the 'Sahaswan / Rampur gharaanaa, to which Ustaad Rashid Khan belongs. This raag has close similar with the Raag Jay Jaywanti.
