Firaaq follows the life of several ordinary people, some who were victims, some silent observers and some perpetrators one month after the 2002 violence in Gujarat. It focuses on how their lives are affected and (irrevocably) changed. Mohsin, a young Muslim boy who has been orphaned during the carnage and is searching for his father. Khan Sahab (Naseeruddin Shah), an elderly Muslim classical vocalist, who is initially unaware of the events and loses his optimism after becoming aware of the hate floating around. A middle-aged Hindu woman, Aarti (Deepti Naval), who is traumatised because she did not open the door to a Muslim woman being chased by a mob and her husband (Paresh Rawal) Muneera, a young Muslim woman whose house has been burnt and suspects her friend's (Amruta Subhash) husband to be behind it. A group of Muslim men, who want to hide their helplessness by searching for a gun in order to extract revenge. An affluent couple, Sameer (Sanjay Suri) and Anu (Tisca Chopra), whose store was burnt during the carnage and want to escape their fears by moving to Delhi. The stories briefly interconnect, giving the impression that all are involved in each others life and all have been affected.

A simple, yet interesting romantic movie, 'Chitchor' revolves around Vinod - Amol Palekar who falls in love with Geeta - Zarina Wahab after her family mistakes him for someone else. When the misunderstanding about Vinod's identity is cleared, it seems that he may have to lose Geeta for no fault of his. This Basu Chatterji film boasts of a sterling performance by Master Rajoo and an excellent music score by Ravindra Jain, which contains soulful songs like 'Gori Tera Gaon', 'Jab Deep Jale Aana', 'Tu Jo Mere Sur Mein' and 'Aaj Se Pehle'.

An old villager -- Vichare (Arun Nalawade) brings his 8 year old grandson Parshuraam (Ashwin Chitale) also known as Paarsha to a doctor in Mumbai to diagnose the child's eyes. On the first day Vichare is asked to sign usual papers before admission in hospital. Upon asking, he learns that the papers say the doctor would not be responsible if anything goes wrong. Vichare, the rustic grandfather finds these terms unacceptable. A medical social worker named Asawari (Amruta Subhash) who is present there, quickly comes in and explains the practice to Vichare. She calms down Vichare and accompanies them during the first appointment with the doctor. Dr. Sane (Sandeep Kulkarni) quickly diagnoses child as a victim of the rare retinoblastoma - a rare retinal cancer. After consulting with other colleagues in US and UK doctor finds that only way to save child's life is to perform an operation that will leave the child blind. He cannot be operated without this knowledge as it was against ethics. Asawari who helps the doctor in convincing the grandfather and the grandson, tries to keep track of Vichare and persuades him not fall prey to other doctors promising false medicines. She tries to befriend Parshya in order to explain him what is going to happen. However, she finds it is too difficult to explain to him that he will turn blind.

The film then depicts the grandfather's struggle to accept the reality that the only way to save his grandson is at the cost of his eyesight. The film has been applauded for scenes which depict the difficulty faced by the doctors to explain to grandfather and Parshya that nothing can be done and the truth is but inevitable. It shows the medical fraternity in a very positive light, with the doctors and nurses being extremely supportive and doing the best they can, and helping the village with the best facilities. The last shot where Parshya returns home wearing dark glasses, waving to his family and friends from the boat was widely appreciated by film critics.

Widowed Advocate Triloki Prasad lives a wealthy lifestyle in a small town in India with two sons| Advocate Ashok - who is married to Geeta| and Alok - who has yet to settle down in their law firm. Alok is fond of music and does enroll in classes run by Pandit Jamuna Prasad. On his return| his father asks him to accompany Ashok to their law firm and start learning to practice| which he agrees to do. Then one day Triloki finds out that Alok has not been at the firm but is instead spending time in the local slums with a former courtesan named Sarju Bai Banaraswali. He cautions Alok about this| but Alok continues to visit Sarju Bai. When Mr. Gupta approaches Triloki about taking possession & demolishing the slum area| Triloki readily agrees and with his expertise manages to sway the Court's decision in Gupta's favor. As a result| Sarju Bai and others are rendered homeless. With the fee he receives from Gupta.

Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi (Darsheel Safary), the story's leading character, is an eight-year-old boy who dislikes school and fails every test or exam. He finds all subjects difficult, and is belittled by his teachers and classmates. But Ishaan's internal world is rich with wonders that he is unable to convey to others, magical lands filled with colour and animated animals. He is an artist whose talent is unrecognised.

Ishaan's father, Nandkishore Awasthi (Vipin Sharma), is a successful executive who expects his children to excel. His mother, housewife Maya Awasthi (Tisca Chopra), is frustrated by her inability to educate her son. Ishaan's elder brother, Yohaan (Sachet Engineer), is an exemplary scholar and athlete, which Ishaan is frequently reminded of.

After receiving a particularly poor academic report, together with Ishaan's apparent truancy on one occasion,Ishaan's parents send him to a boadevelopmentalrding school. There he sinks into a state of fear and depression, despite being befriended by Rajan (Tanay Chheda), a physically disabled, and one of the top students in his class. Ishaan's situation changes when a new art teacher, Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Aamir Khan), joins the school's faculty. An instructor at the Tulips School for young children with disabilities, Nikumbh's teaching style is markedly different from that of his strict predecessor, and he quickly observes that Ishaan is unhappy and contributes little to class activities. He reviews Ishaan's work and concludes that his academic shortcomings are indicative of dyslexia. On his day off, Nikumbh visits Ishaan's parents and asks if he can see more of their son's work. He is stunned by the sophistication of one of Ishaan's paintings, and tells his parents that Ishaan is a bright child who processes information differently from other children in his class, but Ishaan's father is suspicious that the explanation is simply an excuse for his son's poor performance. Nikumbh demands that he read some Japanese text on a box and berates him when he cannot, giving him a glimpse into Ishaan's experience of school. Nikumbh describes dyslexia to them and explains that it is not a sign of low intelligence. He tells them he can provide extra tutoring that will help Ishaan, highlighting the boy's artistic ability evident in his many paintings and other creative works.

Nikumbh subsequently brings up the topic of dyslexia in class, and offers a list of famous people who are considered dyslexic. As the students are leaving the classroom, Nikumbh asks Ishaan to remain behind and reveals to him that he too experienced the same difficulties with dyslexia. Nikumbh then visits the school's principal and obtains his permission to become Ishaan's tutor. He attempts to improve Ishaan's reading and writing by using remedial techniques developed by dyslexia specialists; Ishaan soon develops an interest in language and mathematics, and his grades improve.

Towards the end of the school year Nikumbh organises an art fair for the staff and students. The competition is judged by artist Lalita Lajmi, who portrays herself in the film. Ishaan, with his strikingly creative style, is declared the winner and Nikumbh, who paints Ishaan's portrait, the runner-up. The principal announces that Nikumbh has been hired as the school's permanent art teacher. When Ishaan's parents meet his teachers on the last day of school they are left speechless by the transformation they see in him. Overcome with emotion, Ishaan's father thanks Nikumbh. As Ishaan is getting into the car to leave with his parents, he turns around and runs toward Nikumbh. The film ends with a freeze frame shot of Nikumbh tossing Ishaan into the air.

Pak Pak Pakaak is a Marathi movie about a small naughty boy and a supposedly ghost living in a forest. The story is conceptualized by Sai Paranjpe and is very similar to her 2001 movie 'Bhaago Bhoot'. The story is of a parent-less little boy, chiklu who plays pranks on everybody in the village. Her old grandmother is also fed up with his activities that she resorts to punish him now and then. The village is surrounded by a big forest which inhabits a ghost named as ?bhootya?. The villagers are afraid to venture into the forest alone in the fear that they will be harmed by bhootya. Bhootya is actually a herbal doctor living in isolation from the society. He has been wronged and his wife killed which makes him loose hope and trust in humanity.Chiklu while playing another prank on his teacher ventures into the jungle to find he facing Bhootya. After some confrontation, Chiklu and Bhootya accept each other. Bhootya teaches Chiklu to be good and Chiklu convinces him to come back to the society which he had shunned long back. Just as Chiklu changes, he understands the changing attitude of others toward him. He understands that earlier people who had cursed him were appreciative of his behavior.The journey of Chiklu from being a naughty brat to a nice well-mannered boy is what constitutes the rest of the movie.In spite of having a small boy as a central character, it cannot be termed as a childrens film. I would call it rather a fun film to be enjoyed by everybody.

Fed up with the pressures of the society not ready to accept their union, one couple is said to have taken the course shown by the protagonists in the film. They committed suicide.Ek Duje ke Liye saw southern actor Kamal Haasan appear for the first time in a Hindi film. Rati too stepped into Bollywood with this tragic love story and went on to become the number one in the industry.The music of the film was a rage, especially 'Tere mere beech mein', 'Hum bane tum bane ek duuje ke liye' and the Hindi films name based 'Mere jeevan saathi'

Professor Parimal Tripathi (Dharmendra) is a botany professor who falls in love with Sulekha Chaturvedi (Sharmila Tagore) during a women's college botany excursion. Prof. Parimal Tripathi helps the bungalow watchman to get to his village downhill to enable him to see his grandson who's fallen ill. Meanwhile he disguises himself as the bungalow watchman to protect the old man's job. Sulekha finds out one day about the cover-up and is charmed on seeing Parimal's real personality. They both get married. Parimal loves playing pranks and is the antithesis of regular professors. Sulekha, on the other hand is in awe of her jijaji (brother-in-law) Raghavendra (Om Prakash). She considers her jijaji to be highly intellectual and looks upon him as her idol. Parimal develops an inferiority complex thanks to Sulekha's excessive praise of her jijaji and decides to prove that he is in no way a lesser mortal. Jijaji, meanwhile, has written a letter to Haripat bhaiyya (David Abraham Cheulkar) asking him to send a driver who can speak good Hindi because his present driver James D'costa (Keshto Mukherjee) uses improper grammar. This provides the perfect opportunity for Parimal to get to see and interact with jijaji. Parimal becomes Pyaremohan Ilahabadi, a motor-mouth driver who pretends to hate the English language and so speaks only Hindi. So begins the comedy of errors, as Parimal and Sulekha play prank after prank on the unsuspecting jijaji.

First they pretend that Sulekha is not happy with her new marriage, then they put across the impression that Sulekha is having an affair with Pyaremohan, and if that was not enough, they get Parimal’s long time friend Sukumar Sinha (Amitabh Bachchan), a Professor of English literature, to temporarily act as Parimal and portray him as a serious and boring lecturer, the complete opposite of Parimal's character. Pyaremohan's excessively refined Hindi, his habit of correcting jijaji's usage of the language and his persistence in getting jijaji to teach him English all serve to irk jijaji to no end and provide for many laughs. Parimal's long-time friend P K Srivastava (Asrani) is also party to the prank. His sister-in-law Vasudha (Jaya Bachchan) suspects fake 'Parimal' - Sukumar Sinha - of infidelity to his wife 'Sulekha' when he tries to get close to her. Sukumar falls in love with Vasudha who at first believed he was Parimal, but Sukumar reveals to her the real drama behind all this mix-up of situations. Lata Srivastava (Lily Chakravarty), P K Srivastava's wife, is also angered over the latest 'extra marital' love affair. But toward the end, Sukumar and Vasudha end up marrying in a temple where Haripat bhaiyya coerces Pyaremohan to 'kill' himself so that Parimal could surface. Thus jijaji comes to comprehend the whole enactment, finally admitting that he was truly fooled. The film revolves around the resolution of these funny mishaps.

Dilip's popular TV character Chimanrao, Prince Wantung Pin-Pin from Chingpong Islands, street-smart chicken trader Nana Punje, charming lady Dipti Prabhavalkar-Patel-Lumumba, pseudo-westernized youth Bobby Mod and octogenarian singer-actor Krishnarao Herambkar. The play is sure treat to watch!

Arun - Rajesh Khanna loves Vandana Tripathi - Sharmila Tagore, they become very intimate, and as a result Vandana gets pregnant. Arun and Vandana have a quiet wedding ceremony in the temple, and Arun leaves to re-join his duties. Unfortunately, Arun is killed, and Vandana is unable to convince anyone of her marriage with him, and as such must re-locate to hide her shame. She gives birth to a baby boy, whom she must place in an orphanage to be adopted. Unfortunately for her, the boy, Suraj, is adopted by someone else. She manages to find out their whereabouts, and gets a job as a servant. When she is about to be molested by Shyam, a relative, Suraj witnesses this, and kills him. Vandana takes the blame for this killing and is sentenced to imprisonment, leaving her son and her life behind, for a crime she did not commit. When she returns everything has changed, and she is unable to locate the family where her son was. Fantastic music and a dashing leading man aside, the main reason why Aradhana works is perhaps because of the wonderful story line and direction

The story is centered around the squabbling Sharma family, headed by their eccentric Daduji Harindranath Chattopadhyay, which has a dubious reputation the inability to retain a cook for more than a few months due to their ill treatment of their servants. The family's disrepute spreads to such an extent that no person wants to be employed as a cook in their home, ironically named Shanti Nivas (abode of peace).

Then one day a young man named Raghu (Rajesh Khanna) offers to work as a cook, and he is hired. Raghu quickly understands the family members' preferences and works to restore peace to Shanti Nivas, and soon the squabbles and arguments come to an end.

And then, one day, the Sharmas find the family jewels and Raghu missing. Actually he was planning a union between the young lady member of the family with a suitable boy. He stole the jewels to give it to the boy who could then restore them to the family. It helped to increase the boy's stature in the family.

Actually Raghu was a professor by profession. He had learnt dance, music and cooking. He gave up his profession after seeing so many families in despair and not living in peace. He made his motto of life to work in these kinds of families and teach them the value of small moments of happiness and love and thus making peace again.

In the end it is shown that he is on his way to find some another family and fix it.

Raat Gayi Baat Gayi is about three couples and a keen observation on the modern day marriage. Rahul wakesup with a bad hangover after a party the night before. His wife, Mitali, is in particularly bad mood this morning, and Rahul suspects that she might know about his little escapade last night. Rahul starts chasing his night- trying to retrieve it- trying to find out what really happened. His friends Saxena and Amit Are going through their own marritial crises of sorts. Gandha is a unique film in itself as the concept of depicting the essence of smell through films is a rear phenomenon. I do not recollect any film which depicts the very essence of smell. It is a tale of three inter-woven stories. While one is a comical love story, the second is about a ruptured relationship about a HIV postive man and his wife and last story is a rural based drama. What made me sit up and write about this movie is the unique manner in which these stories capture the essence of smell. For example the very reason of attraction between the girl and the boy in the first story is because the boy has a very mesmerising scent to his body.Simple concept but beatifully portrayed. A must watch for all film lovers.

Unemployed Ramprasad Sharma is told by Doctor Mama that if he alters his manner of speaking, and wearing clothes, he could land himself a job. Ramprasad does so, and gets employed in a firm run by traditional and orthodox Bhavani Shankar. Problems crop up for Ramprasad when Bhavani finds out that he is leaving a double life, so Ramprasad creates a fictional brother named Laxman. The problem does not get resolved, as Bhavani's daughter falls in love with Laxman, and Bhavani wants her to marry Ramprasad. In order to finalize this marriage, Bhavani goes to visit Ramprasad's residence, and meets his mother and sister, and that's when the fun begins for Ramprasad lives with his sister only, leaving the hapless and confused Bhavani, to even more haplessness and confusion.

A heartbroken Bhola turns to Guru - Kishore Kumar who runs an amateur theatre company with his motley bunch of artistes and singers. Guru devises ingenious tricks whereby Bhola is able to impress Bindu. A laugh-riot that will have you roll of your sets with mirth, 'Padosan' also boasts of super-hit songs, including the unforgettable 'Mere Samne Wali Khidki Mein', 'Ek Chatur Naar' and 'Meri Pyari Bindu'.

A young woman receives a head injury in an automobile accident and becomes like a six-year-old. She leaves the hospital unattended and ends up in a brothel. She is rescued by a young man who takes her to his home in the mountains. Meanwhile, her parents and the police are looking for her, and just as she is cured, they come to take her back to Bombay. The film is a remake of the 1982 Tamil film Moondram Pirai. Sridevi's autistic child-woman performance won her the Best actress Filmfare Award and National Award nomination as well as receiving State awards, Kamal's performance in the film's famous climax scene won him the National Award in the Tamil version. The film however flopped at the box office as it was considered way ahead of its time. But over the years the movie has achieved cult status and is regarded as an all time classic featuring Kamal Haasan and Sridevi's career best performances.

Indrani Sinha (Raakhee) is the eldest child in the Sinha household, consisting of her elderly and ill father, Chandranath (A.K. Hangal); two younger sisters and a younger brother. She loves Dr. Sagar Varma (Parikshat Sahni), who looks after her ailing dad, and hopes to marry him soon. His mother approves of Indu, but would like her to leave everthing behind, and look after her son and the household, which is not acceptable to Indu. Misfortune visits the Sinha household and Chandranath passes away, leaving the entire responsiblity of the household on Indu's shoulders. She decides to open a school for children, and her siblings help her. She refuses Sagar's offer of living at his house. Sagar and Indu decide to marry after the children grow up and are well settled. Years pass by, the children have all grown up, her younger brother, Vinod (Asrani) is a graduate, and finds a job with an organization, the owner (Om Shivpuri) of which wants him to marry his only daughter, Pinky (Manju Bansal), and he must leave his family behind and live at Pinky's house. Vinod's decides to do so, and leaves Indu once again to shoulder the entire responsiblity of getting her two sisters married and looking after the household, he does not even invite them to his marriage. How long will life permit Indu and Sagar to wait? Will the younger sisters assist Indu or will they also turn up like Vinod?

They met in classroom for the first time. Arun - Sachin, the only son of a Barrister father, stood second in the exams to Lily Fernandes, a shy, simple, modest girl - Ranjeeta - the daughter of an ordinary nurse in a private nursing home. The shock of the defeat was too much for Arun, and he took up a challenge - even nursed a personal vendetta - to bring down the growing popularity of Lily in the college. Lily, however, bore no malice against him. She even tolerated all the sarcasm and nasty pranks of the close chums of Arun. As time went by, Arun and Lily started admiring each other's qualities.
